Fruits Accepts Job With Danville Braves

Kendrick Fruits @kendrick_fruits, 2016 voice of the Stallions, has accepted a media relations position with the Danville Braves. Danville is the Rookie ball affiliate of the Atlanta Braves. Fruits a 2016 graduate of Appalachian State University, provided play-by-play for the Stallions 38 games last season. 

Former Stallion Spencer Schultz

Spencer Schultz, a sophomore catcher and first baseman, for the Lakeland Community College Lakers is currently hitting .369 on the season with 19 RBI, 18 runs scored, and 2 homeruns. Spencer earned Ohio Valley League All-Star honors while playing for the Stallions in 2016.

National Recognition for Valvano

Jamie Valvano was named the National Christian College Athletic Association Fielder of the Week. The senior for the Oakland City Mighty Oaks had a .545 batting average including 2 doubles, 4 homeruns, 12 runs, and 10 RBI. He also stole 2 bases and slugged 1.182 with an on-base percentage of .583. Click here to check out the full story.

Former Stallion Max Hall

Max Hall, 2016 Stallion, is proving his worth as a reliever and spot-starter for the University of Pikeville Bears. Max, a 6'3" right handed pitcher, is a junior playing his first season with Pikeville. Currently, he is 3-1 with a 4.23 earned run average in 10 appearances. Max threw a lot of valuable innings for the Stallions last summer while earning Ohio Valley League All-Star honors. During his tenure with the Stallions, Hall was 0-3 with a 2.64 earned run average over 44 1/3 innings pitched. 

Former Stallion Jamie Valvano

Former Muhlenberg County Stallion (2016), Jamie Valvano, is off to a hot start for the Oakland City University Mighty Oaks. The left-handed hitting second baseman from Louisville, KY is currently batting .361, slugging .667, with an on-base percentage of .447. Jamie is a senior for the Mighty Oaks that is majoring in Business Administration. 
The Stallions Welcome the Flash

The OVL met on Saturday in Madisonville and granted a franchise to Henderson, KY. The team name is Flash and will begin play in the upcoming season scheduled to begin on June 1, 2017. The addition of the Flash builds the league to 8 teams total. The Henderson Flash will play their home games at Henderson County High School's B.T. Wayne Field.   


The OVL also voted to split the league into two divisions, the East and West. The East division will consist of the Henderson Flash, Dubois County Bombers, Owensboro Oilers and Muhlenberg Stallions. The West division will include the Fulton Railroaders, Paducah Chiefs, Hopkinsville Hoppers and Madisonville Miners. The 2017 OVL schedule is forthcoming with each team playing 40 regular season games, 20 home & 20 away. An All Star game will be scheduled for July 9 and will be played at Dubois County's League Stadium. Post Season Playoff schedule is TBA. Story courtesy of Ohio Valley League.
